How Units are represented

Page 8 - How Units are Represented

What's important on this page?

To be honest most of this has been covered on p7, Figures.

The bit about Pikemen is maybe worth repeating, which is essentially that they should really be a single square block, 40x40 for 15mm or 60x60 for 25/8mm but you can also use 3 normal DBx bases as well, and take the rear one off if it gets in the way.

Missile Support is actually a bit pants - its something you spend a point on if you have a spare point or two after making up your army, as it works in game turns almost exactly the same as Armour - one of the Melee Modifiers - but it only counts in the first turn of combat despite costing the same. But, if you have a few extra LI with bow kicking around you can use them for rear support. In this case, unlike DBx games, they can't leave the unit they are with and go off and become LF, but they can be temporarily taken off if they would get in the way. So, a sort of marker really.

Mixed units are essentially square-based DBE's where they are 2 ranks of Medium Foot, and either square or slightly not square DBEs when they are a rank of close formation infantry backed up by bowmen - it really makes no difference to the game if they are square or not, and I'm not sure any armies have both so you won't be confusing your opponent either. Worth flagging up though that units with a rear rank of bowmen can claim Missile Support in the first round of melee as one of the Melee Modifiers

Chances are they won't be dancing around either, so 2 DBx elements will work just fine.

Camps are a single thing, the size of 2 square bases. So your FoG camp may need slicing up, but 2 of your DBx camp elements work just fine. 2 squares is a nice size for a single based mini diorama, so you may find yourself making up some ADLG camp units anyway.
